Support
The features and functionality
of ELLIOTT'S Point of Sale are numerous and powerful. The work horse of the system
is the receipt generation screen. As items are entered or scanned, they are displayed
with their ELLIOTT description, item number, price, quantity, unit of measure
and tax flag. Also, many user functions and context sensitive help screens are
available at the touch of a button.
While monochrome monitors
can be used with this POS system, color-coded fields on the receipt screen can
help alert management to stock outages and inventory discrepancies. If the last
of a product is sold, the quantity of that item is displayed in red.
The receipt screen is built
for ease of use, facilitating quick clerk training. For easy product identification,
the touch of a button provides ELLIOTT -like searches by item number and product
code. Alt key sequences provide access to pull-down menus, while function keys
allow the user to modify information for the current sale.
Inquiries
Detailed inquiries
can be made on products sold and store customers, as well as layaway and service
transactions. Current inventory levels and allocated stock can be identified at
the store, remote stores and warehouses.
An inquiry of the event
log can also be run to provide the store manager with the information needed to
adequately audit exceptions. For example, at the touch of a button, the manager
can determine the manual price discounts given to a particular customer by a salesperson.
Service/Layaway
ELLIOTT POS
provides extensive service center and layaway functions by allowing the combination
of Customer Order Processing invoices for service parts and Accounts Receivable
service invoices in the same function. Payment of service invoices (parts and
labor) may be consolidated with other items the customer is purchasing at the
cash register.
Layaway allocates and transfers
inventory to an inventory location maintained specifically for layaway items.
Customers can make payments on the layaway invoice at any time within the specified
layaway period. An optional surcharge is allowed for layaway terminations.
Customer
Tracking
ELLIOTT POS
can be configured to prompt the clerk for the customer code at the beginning of
every sale. Tracking sales by customer code can provide a wealth of information
for retailers. The integration of ELLIOTT and the POS system make imlementation
of this functionality easy. For example, the customer phone number from the ELLIOTT
customer file can be used as the customer code in POS. When a customer comes to
the counter, the clerk simply asks for the customer's phone number. If the customer
is not in the system, the clerk can either enter the customer quickly or treat
the sale as a cash transaction.
Hardware
ELLIOTT POS
supports receipt printers, external electronic display units and cash drawers
on parallel or serial ports. Because POS supports UPC cross-references to ELLIOTT
item file, barcode scanning can be supported via wedge scanners.
Configuration
Most features
of ELLIOTT POS are configurable; that is, the operation of the function can be
enabled, disabled or customized by the manager. For example, the event logging
feature can be activated or disabled, depending upon the needs of the business.
Configuration also includes
the Security Sub-System of ELLIOTT POS. Individual user access to system features
can be controlled by the manager. Password protection by function can also be
implemented.
ELLIOTT
POS is included with any new sale of ELLIOTT V6.72x Business
Software. It is also available as an Add-on for existing ELLIOTT
